JOY AND THE MAGICAL FINS

Summer Holidays had started and Joy’s mother decided to put Joy in a swimming class. “Learning Swimming is extremely important Joy. It is an essential life skill, which can save your or others life in danger. So take this class very seriously and learn to swim.” Even though Joy was scared of the water, he did whatever the coach asked him to do. He dipped, and floated, and jumped, and very soon, swam!! His coach was very proud of him. Someone else was proud too-
The Blue Fairy!!
The Blue Fairy decided to reward him. When Joy slept, the Blue Fairy came in his dreams and said, “Joy, I am very proud of your sincerity. So I give you these magical fins. When you attach them to your body, you’ll be like a fish. You will be able to breathe and swim tirelessly underwater.”
Joy showed them to his friend, Sid, and they took it along when they went on a family beach outing. Sid tried the fins first. To his amazement, he could indeed breathe underwater as easily as if it was air. Swimming felt as easy as walking. So he ventured into the deep sea. He had fun looking at the amazing variety of fish. Suddenly he noticed something huge over his head. It was a shark!! Sid knew sharks can be very dangerous, so he swam back to the shore as fast as he could.
Then he told to his friend, “This gift is fun, Joy. But the deep waters can be unsafe. You need to be careful.”
So Joy promised Sid that he’ll be careful and went in the ocean with the magical fins on. He loved the clear blue water of the sea, with brightly coloured fish moving here and there. He saw a starfish at the seabed, and a school of fish swimming together. He did not go in very deep waters and soon came out of the water, safe and sound.
Later, as they were sitting and enjoying delicious barbeque meal with their families, Joy noticed that a small boat had overturned in the distance. It had three people on board, and they were shouting for help.
“How can we help them?” he wondered.
“Let’s go get help, lifeguards or lifeboats.” said Joy’s dad, and ran off.
Joy too didn’t waste a second. He put his fins on, and jumped in the waters. He remembered Sid’s warning, but those people needed help. So Joy charted into the deep. He quickly reached the drowning trio. He helped them hold on to the overturned boat. When he saw a lifeboat approaching, he swam away.
The fins disappeared, and nobody but the two boys knew who helped the drowning people.
