Joy in London.

Joy and Sid had been extremely busy this week. They had a busy time at school in their new classes. So when the Blue Fairy came to visit them in the darkness of night, they had no idea where to ask her to take them.

“If you people have not decided, maybe I’ll just go back.” She said, threatening them playfully.

“No no...” they mumbled and stumbled to quickly come up with an interesting destination. Just then, Joy saw one of Ginni’s books lying around. It had the picture of a falling bridge on its cover. Can you tell which nursery rhyme did that picture illustrated?

It was ‘London bridge is falling down!’. Thinking it might be fun to watch a falling bridge, Joy asked the Fairy to take them to London. Sid had no better idea, so he meekly agreed, and the team flew off to London in the pitch black sky.

On the way, Sid asked, “What will we see in London?”

Joy told him his plans, on which the blue fairy had a hearty laugh.

“There’s no falling bridge in London, dear. The river Thames has many impressive bridges though.”

“I don’t want to go to any river.” Sid said.

London has so much more than water”, said the Blue Fairy. “Being the capital of United Kingdom, it is full of historical places of abundant importance. It also has a palace, a big clock tower called the Big Ben.”

“Oh!! We have a clock tower of our own in our city.” Sid said. “Can we see something unique there?”

“Ok” the fairy replied. “In that case, I’ll take you to the Madame Tussauds museum.”

Wondering what they might find in the museum, the kids went along with the Blue Fairy. Soon they were at the Madame Tussauds world famous Wax museum.

“Wax Museum!” read Joy with surprise. “Who can be interested in different types of wax?”

The Fairy said nothing, but directed them inside. The Museum was closed, it being midnight, but the Fairy’s magic had many uses.

A huge surprise awaited the children as soon as they flew inside. They expected to find empty halls, but were astonished to find plenty of people surrounding them. Both the boys immediately landed on the ground, but the fairy was still hovering in the sky.

“Come down”, the kids screamed, “Everyone is watching us!”

The Fairy stayed in the air, smiling.

The kids looked around in amazement. No one seemed to move. It was as if all the people present have been frozen in time. Joy and Sid looked up to the Fairy for an explanation. Did she hypnotize the crowd?

“They are not real people.” Said the Fairy. “They are statues.”

“Statues!” It was almost impossible to believe. The statues looked as real as anyone on the street!

The Fairy explained that the statues were made by wax, originally by an extremely talented lady named Marie Tussaud. They are lifelike, and that is what makes them so special.

The kids spent a great deal of time with statues of famous personalities, and had great fun. It was rather difficult for the Blue Fairy to take them back home in time.
