Once upon a time, there was a boy named Joy. One day his mom had severe headache. She needed to go to the chemist to get her medicine.
“You go to the medicine shop, Mom. I’ll take care of my sister, Ginni, till you come” Joy offered. So Mom rushed off to buy her medicine. Joy kept Ginni busy by playing with her. His Mom was very proud of him. Some else was proud too-
The Blue Fairy!!
The Blue Fairy decided to reward Joy for being so helpful. When he slept that afternoon, the Blue Fairy came in his dreams and said, “Joy, you are a caring big brother. So I’ll reward you with magical shoes!! They have three buttons on the side. When you press the first button, wheels come from the soles and they turn into skates. The second button brings out small jets from the back of the shoes and you can go as fast as a racing car. On pressing the third button, small rotating fans will come out from the soles and make you fly. The shoes steer themselves, so that you will never have an accident and will go in whatever direction you want. But remember, all my gifts can be used only thrice.”
When Joy woke up, he found the shoes under his bed. It was the best gift ever! He started wearing them all the time.
Once he went to a bank with his father to deposit some money. Suddenly, three men carrying guns barged in. “Everybody step aside.” They shouted. “We are looting this bank.” Everyone stood terrified as the robbers filled up their bags with millions of currency notes. By the time they had emptied the Bank coffers; their bags became very heavy.
“Let’s leave the guns here”, suggested a robber. “We’ll run to our waiting car and then rush off to the helipad and escape by a helicopter. No one here will be able to catch us.”
So they did. But they were not faster than a magic skater!! Joy quickly press the first button on his shoes, and skated towards the robbers. He was able to grab the last robber.
“Wow! But we missed the other two.” The crowd gasped as the other robbers fled by car.
“We’ll catch them too”, replied Joy, as he pressed the second button. His shoes resembled a rocket now. “To the Helipad” shouted Joy as the shoes took off with blinding speed. The burglars had just reached and were sprinting towards their helicopter. Joy nabbed one of them and waited for police to come. By the time Police tied up the second robber, the last one was up in the skies.
“How can we catch him?” wondered the police officer.
“Leave it to me” answered Joy, and pressed the third button. Soon, he was in the clouds, flying right next to the helicopter. When the escaping robber saw him, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He was so surprised and shocked, he lost control of the copter and came crashing down to the earth. Joy returned to the ground safely too.
His favorite shoes had disappeared, but Joy didn’t complain. He was happy that he used his gift to save the banks money.
